Global Read Aloud

Recently, I've heard several teachers around the district talk about participating in Global Read Aloud this year. Global Read Aloud is a way to connect students from around the world with a common book.  Certain books have been chosen for grade levels and students share their thoughts and reactions on tools such as: Google docs, Wallwishers, Skype, and Edmodo. 

Here is a quote from the website that explains more:

"Why the Global Read Aloud?  Global collaboration is necessary to show students that they are part of something bigger than them. That the world needs to be protected and that we need to care for all people. You can show them pictures of kids in other countries but why not have them speak to each other? Then the caring can begin."
